The Big Numbers Song

We have been learning to recognise numbers to 100! This song has helped us a lot and we love singing it as a warm up before we start our maths programme. Room 9 children love it!

Before and after school

Before and after school

To help keep the schooling experience happy and exciting for your child it is important that we keep the goodbyes short and sweet in the morning. When the music goes that is when the schooling programme starts and it is important that the children are settled in by then. After school please wait until children are released from the class before you enter the classroom.

Technology Ignition Day

Last week we had Finn from the Auckland Council come and talk to us about Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and what they mean. We completed some really neat practical activities around this as well. I am so impressed with what Room 9 children have picked up already and how they are applying it to our school and classroom environment. Every time we go for a walk around the school, or we are going out for fitness, the children pick up piles of rubbish and talk about whether it can be reused, recycled or put into landfill. It is just so awesome to see that way they are taking responsibility for things, this is also applying to the way they are looking after their belongings and our classroom. Room 9 are such responsible and resilient learners already, very impressive!

Check out some of the photos from our ignition day below…

" I can find the recycle sign on the butter container" said Amelia

"Here is the recycle sign, I found it!" said Sariah

" The paper can be recycled" said Finn

Please, please make sure if you see something on the blog that you like that you leave us a comment! It is so valuable and powerful for the children in Room 9 to see comments from parents. If you are unsure about how to comment on posts please let me know and I can show you.
Have a lovely weekend and I will see you rearing to go on Monday.      - Miss J.

Letters and Sounds Song

Everyday we are learning letters and the sounds that they make. Today we looked at rhyming words and it was amazing to see how quickly the children picked this up! This is a song that we sing in class to help us know the sounds that the letters in the alphabet make.

Next week we are having our technology ignition day to help us understand more around our topic of 'The 3 r's'. We have a special visitor from the Auckland Council coming in to talk to us and will teach us more about reducing, reusing and recycling. Then in Week 8 for the Kiwi team celebration we will celebrate our learning by parading our wearable arts that we have been busy making at home over this term.

Jack Johnson - The 3 R's Lyrics

For Technology this term we have been talking about the 3 R's - Reduce, reuse and recycle and what each of these mean. One of the exciting events that is coming up for the Kiwi team is our 'Wearable Arts' show in Week 8. Children are busy making a costume for this at home as part of their home fun ready for the Friday afternoon celebration in the hall. We have also been learning the Jack Johnson song 'The 3 R's'.

We love milk!

Reremoana School is involved in the Anchor Milk in Schools programme. Look at us enjoying our delicious cold milk, yum!

Letters and Sounds

Everyday in Room 9 we learn all about a different letter of the alphabet. We brainstorm words that we know that start with the letter, we do activities related to the letter and we learn the sound the letter makes and how it is formed. Look at us practicing writing the letter 'C' on the path with chalk…
